Taschen's Rolling Stone Book Jagger Print

Rolling Stones Taschen Book Art Eds. Mick Jagger Print

51 years ago this week The Rolling Stones set out on their first headline tour. Whether you adhere to their claim of being the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band in the world is subjective. Less up for discussion is the band’s storied history.  The tours, the women, the drugs, members dying, if aliens landed on earth and needed rock ‘n’ roll explained the Rolling Stones would be a good answer.

Their story is money. A fact not lost on Sir Mick. With the release of The Rolling Stones Book from luxury book publisher Taschen, the Stones are once again pushing the limits of a premium rock ‘n’ roll experience. Continue reading Stones book leaves wallets shattered.

Luck of the Irish, Bono may never play Falcon live again.

Luck of the Irish, Bono may never play Falcon live again.

Bono has released a statement recently that he may never play guitar on stage again. All the rock star pomp and pageantry aside, anyone who loves to play, nevermind made it your livelihood, will understand what a bummer this is. Hell no one would even pay me to busk, but the joy that I get from laying my fingers down on a fret board is indescribable. In his youth, Paul Hewson’s was given the nickname Bono Vox by his mates, which is latin for good voice. He shortened it to Bono after their second album. He’s always been more about his voice and has pointed out that not everyone will miss his guitar playing. Still let’s raise a glass of Jamaison, hope that the therapy proves him wrong and he’ll be able to strap on the G61361 Bono Irish Falcon once again. BEATLES SWAG BY SHAG

BEATLES SWAG BY SHAG

Beatles X SHAG

May I Introduce to You Limited Edition Print

Yellow Submarine, the Beatles 1968 animated film was able to have mass appeal while being wonderfully progressive. It’s the ingredient behind most of the Beatles work and a major reason for it’s staying power.

Josh Agle, SHAG, is an American modern artist whose creations reward the viewer with layers of wit that unravel before your eyes. SHAG’s work is easy to like, but like the lads from Liverpool, the work is not in itself easy easy.

May I Introduce to You is a sweet piece for any Beatle fan. And if you’re a fan of SHAG on top of it, well, it’s kinda like you’re double dipping.

This limited edition autographed print is available at The Beatles Store. All you need is love…and $700.

The Who Hits 50 Collection Over the past 50 years, The Who have given rock ‘n’ roll a lot. Feedback, instrument destruction, the most stoic of bassists and the rock opera. They can also be credited with having an eye for and popularising POP art.

The Gibson Firebird 7 Cars have inspired plenty of rock ‘n’ roll songs. If you’ve ever put on a Bruce Springsteen album you’ve heard several of them. But the auto industry’s influence on rock ‘n’ roll doesn’t stop at allusions to route 66. In 1963, Gibson

Hipgnosis Portraits Pays tribute to album cover art

Hipgnosis Portraits

When CDs replaced vinyl in the 80s, the biggest shame was the loss of the 12-inch cover art. The CD reduced the format to a piddley 5-inches and streaming —well, not much to look at there. Hipgnosis was a design collective consisting of Strom Thirgerson, Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell and Peter Christopherson. The group were responsible for some of the most inspiring and innovative album cover art of the late 60s, 70s and early 80s. Hipgnosis Portriats is a fantastic recollection on their art and, more interesting, how it was made.  Continue reading You can judge a book by the album cover.
