Luck of the Irish, Bono may never play Falcon live again.

Luck of the Irish, Bono may never play Falcon live again.

Bono has released a statement recently that he may never play guitar on stage again. All the rock star pomp and pageantry aside, anyone who loves to play, nevermind made it your livelihood, will understand what a bummer this is. Hell no one would even pay me to busk, but the joy that I get from laying my fingers down on a fret board is indescribable. In his youth, Paul Hewson’s was given the nickname Bono Vox by his mates, which is latin for good voice. He shortened it to Bono after their second album. He’s always been more about his voice and has pointed out that not everyone will miss his guitar playing. Still let’s raise a glass of Jamaison, hope that the therapy proves him wrong and he’ll be able to strap on the G61361 Bono Irish Falcon once again.

The Bono Irish Falcon is the first of two signature hallow bodies Gretsch has produced with the U2 frontman’s name on it. More recently Gretsch produce the (GRETSCH)RED Electromatic Center-Block Bono Signature a long overdue addition to (product)RED. The Irish Falcon launched a few years back was what Bono played on the ’05 Vertigo tour. This beautiful signature axe includes classic Gretsch Falcon specs along with some nice collectible features including a Bono signature on the 12th fret and a ‘the Goal is Soul’ graphic in the pick guard.
