A Les Paul with a very old soul
Gibson Les Paul Warhorse
As far as electric guitars go, the Gibson Les Paul is an elder statesman. But it’s certainly not lute old. So artist James A. Willis’ reimagining of the 20th century six-string with an 1812 Revolutionary War vibe is pretty interesting. The one-of-a-kind from Les Paul Custom Shop Warhorse is all very Moulin Rouge in it’s mixing of the old and the new. Scratch that, the reference is dated. It’s all very Peaky Blinders, dripping in 18th century authenticity with a 20th century soundtrack.
James A. Willis has spent a better part of the 90s interpreting the Manhattan skyline. His works capture the epic nature of the NYC while at the same time creating a sense of intimacy.
A sculpture and painter, Willis designs and paints in a number of mediums including skateboards, motorcycles, and, oh yeah, guitars. He has produced both axes on canvas and sculpted some amazing bodies. Enter the Gibson Custom Artist in Residence Program. A featured artist, Willis has produced a series of one off pieces that’ll drop your jaw at first glance then blow your mind once you start to take in the detail.
The Les Paul Warhorse is based on a ’57 reissue body. The finish and details have been created by Gibson luthiers according to Willis’ vision. It’s a one-of-a-kind guitar. With a price you’ll only want to pay once.
