 Vintage Modified ’72 Tele Thinline

The Squier Vintage Modified ’72 Tele Thinline is based on the reimagined Telecaster Fender released in, you guess it, 1972.

If you’re a fan of Spoon, you’ll recognize the tone of the Telecaster Thinline. Jon Britt Daniel has been playing one on tour in support of 2014’s They Want My Soul. Although the Thineline Daniel’s plays is an earlier model. Before Fender beefed it up with humbucking pickups.

A side note, it’s about time Britt Daniel has his own signature Fender. The leader of one of America’s best bands for 2 decades deserves that much. Perhaps they’ve asked already and he has said no. Now we’re worried that we’ve opened up some nasty old wounds, to which we’ll apologize in hypothetical advance.

End of rant.

Like the ’72 Fender, the Squier Vintage Modified ’72 Tele Thinline is a beefed up Telecaster with Wide Range humbucking pickups in a semi-hollow body. The Thinline is listed at $499 and is part of Squier’s Vintage Modified series featuring cool twist on classic Fenders.
