More possibilities than a third arm.
The DTX502 Eletro Acoustic Hybrid Pack
Yamaha is releasing the world’s first acoustic electronic drumset with its DTX502 Hybrid Packs. When you think of it, Yamaha is the James Franco of instrument manufacturers. They make guitars, their acoustics are actually very good, they make pianos, synthesizers and we bet the recorder you were forced to play in grade three music class was a Yamaha. Ya know we have a theory that forcing kids to play the recorder is actually a plot launched by the Math faculty to destroy any musical ambitions. More about that another time.
Yamaha also makes very good acoustic and electronic drums. Which according to the Japanese manufacturer puts them in the best position to make the world’s first acoustic electric hybrid. The Yamaha DTX502 Hybrid Pack is a five-piece Stage Custom Birch set with 700 Series hardware coupled with a DTX502 module and two electronic drum pads. The set up is expandable to 12 pads is you want to get all Stewart Copeland on your kit.
On display now at NAMM 15, the sets will ship in February 2015.
