Behind of The Who’s cinematic tendencies.

Behind of The Who’s cinematic tendencies.

Lambert and Stamp

The Who have always pushed the idea of what a rock ‘n’ roll band could be. The theatre of their performances, the cinematic scope of their songwriting, the rock operas, the 3 minutes of a pop song was never enough to contain their creative ideas. Now this is the band. Townshend and co. are artists beyond compare, but when you learn that behind the scenes they had two filmmakers as managers, it answers a lot of where did they come up with this sh*t questions.

Not your average Who documentary, Lambert and Stamp tells the story of how two filmmakers set out to make a movie about rock ‘n’ roll and ended up becoming the managers of The Who. The film would be a real life Hollywood story if the pair turned out to be naturals at their new found careers. But it’s much more interesting than that. As director James D. Cooper describes it, ‘They weren’t good managers.’ But the filmmakers in them had great ideas. As so often happens when you get people with great ideas together great things happen, but egos get bruised.

The site for the film is pretty lame, we couldn’t even find the trailer, so head over to the FB page to learn more.

The Who kick off their new final tour on April 15th in Tampa, Florida. Love ya guys, but don’t believe it’s the last. Check out the dates on thewho.com
