Stones set up memory motel at Saatchi Gallery
The Rolling Stones Exhibitionsim
Charlie Watts is a man of very few words, but his candor makes each syllable gold. Take this quote describing Exhibitionism, the band’s first major memorabilia exhibition.
Charlie: We’ve got an awful lot of stuff…and it was offered to us.
We couldn’t possibly give you a better explanation than that, but if you need more, head to stonesexhibitionism.com. The site promises that the event will offer an exhaustive and comprehensive look at the band’s 50 plus history featuring collabs with Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey and Alexander McQueen. The 5 decades are key here. The Stones incredible longevity make Exhibitionism extremely interesting for fans of not only the band but of rock and roll. The gig posters teased on the site alone feature decades of tours.
A promo video for the exhibit with Charlie playing Mick proves that over the past five decades no one in the band took acting lessons, or none of them took. It looks like the measure for a good take is that everyone is still standing.
The site also houses Stonesism which invites fans to become part of the exhibit by sharing pics, lyrics and fav memories.
Rolling Stones Exhibitionism is set to run from April to September, 2016 at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Tickets go on sale July 10. No doubt the event will come with its own category of merch at the Stones store. Stay tuned.
