Noisy and Tim Armstrong dropped DIY knowledge
Under the Influence Trailer
Noisy, the music arm of Vice, is launching a new series on homegrown music scenes narrated by Tim Armstrong. This is interesting as Vice has been creating great content ever since it was a DIY magazine in Montreal, Canada. They actually started as a community mag in 1994 as The Voice of Montreal. In the late ’90s, they moved their head offices to NYC and began working on becoming one of the coolest content providers on the net. (They brought us Drunk History gold.) A small guy done good story, Vice media currently has outlets across the globe. Hipsters true and true we’re betting the only thing more scarce than a clean shave in their offices is a pair of bell bottoms.
All this to say Under the Influence is the perfect story for Vice’s Noisy to tell. And because they know their cool, they’ve got Rancid’s Tim Armstrong to narrate. Armstrong sounds like he’s taken the series title to heart at times. Not since the audio version of Life have we heard someone sound this half in the bag, but once your ear adjusts to the slur, it’s gold. Rock ‘n’ Roll history told by a guy who lived and breathed the dust stirred up in punk rock’s basement.
