The Other F Word

Netflix has changed the way we consume television. It has also injected a healthy dose of rockumentary into our diet.

There are the big draws that any music fan would have seen anyways like Twenty Feet From Stardom, but there are also lesser known titles that you wouldn’t normally pull 5 dollars out for at your local Blockbuster. Never mind dragging your ass into a cinema, (unless it was about the guy who wrote Nevermind). Films like The Other F Word is why Netflix rockumentaries are worth a search. The Andrea Blaugrund film is inspired by Punk Rock Dad, a book by Pennywise lead singer Jim Lindberg who is featured prominently in the film. The story looks at middle-aged Punks dealing with fatherhood. Lars Frederiksen, Fat Mike and Flea are not your typical fathers who know best.

We all live lives with actions that appear to polarize, but stage diving and changing diapers is extreme. The film also addresses what it’s like to be a working band. A band like Pennywise touched plenty of kid’s lives. But it didn’t give the band members a licence live as they please. On the contrary, the film points out that they need to keep going to make ends meet even as the gray hair settles in. It’s interesting to see middle-aged punks dealing with middle-class life.

Thanks to Netflix.com you can see The Other F Word any Fing time you please.
