Rotten Redux

Rotten Redux

Just as 70s punk was slow to be picked up in the US, the John Lydon / Johnny Rotten biography Anger Is An Energy: My Life Uncensored is being released close to a year after it dropped in Europe. The book’s North American release is today.

Now John Lydon has never been shy to share his angst with the world. From the Sex Pistols to hosting radio shows, J. Rotten has let us know exactly how cranky he was at the time. Don’t take this the wrong way, Lydon’s acerbic take on the world is more often than not gold. Anyways with his penchant for chatter, it really shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone that this is Rotten’s second autobiography. Not a sequel Johnny’s latest take on his life, is a retelling of much of what was covered in the 1993 Rotten: No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs. John is certainly savy enough to know that what people are most interested in hearing about are the Sex Pistols years. So why read the book? Well it’s interesting to see how the great complainer has mellowed, or not,  20 years later.
