’59 Fender Bassman Ltd.

Back in 1952, Fender introduced the Percison Bass Guitar. This bass went on to become a huge success along with it’s companion amplifier the Fender Bassman. As bands were formed, electric guitarists paid little attention to the suggestion in the amplifier’s name and plugged in their 6-strings. But like all amps of the day, this tube amp couldn’t always handle the power being asked of it resulting in distortion. Beautiful roll over Beethoven distortion. A key ingredient of the rock and roll sound was found thanks to this little tweed crate. Over the years amps have gotten better and distortion has had to be switched on. There is nothing like plugging into a tube amp and discovering some rich, true tones. A point proved positive by none other than the ’59 Bassman Ltd. itself. Reissued in the 90s, the Basman remains an active contributor to the sound of rock and roll.
