Jane likes to be touched.

Jane likes to be touched.

Guitars have always been about touch. While some would add swinging and smashing to the ground, Pete Townsend, touch takes precedence. Switzerland’s Relish Guitars latest offering takes the idea of touch to the next level. The Jane is the first electric guitar that allows you to switch pick-ups with a tap of a finger. No switches to toggle.

The Jane’s innovative design is highlighted with a 3-way pick-up switch activated by touch sensors. Located in the body, the touch sensors allow you to mute the volume along with switch between Humbuckers. The e-gutar’s construction is unlike your standard six-string. Constructed out of three layers, the aluminium middle frame is sandwiched between wood veneers. The result is a warm and vibrant sound. Now that we think about it, smashed to the ground the Jane would probably splinter apart in spectacular fashion, Pete Townshend.

Another cool detail is that you can crack this baby open with a guitar pick. The back plate is held together by magnets making it easy to access the engine room. Ideal if you’d like to swap pick ups.

It’s all pretty revolutionary, but don’t expect the Jane to be popping up in garage bands anytime soon. Like most leading edge technologies, the early adopters have to pay to get first dibs. The Jane retails for over $5,000 US.
