Back in 1985 someone at the Coca-Cola Company decided to change the formula of one of the world’s most popular soft drinks and replace it with something called New Coke. If you look up marketing bone-headed moves, you might find a picture of the guy who made that winner call. And you may find a picture of the guy who got rid of Pearl’s original Export series. You see up until the 2007 Pearl had the best selling drum kit of all time in the Export Series. Its introduction in 1982 redefined the budget drum set laying an impressive beat for others to follow. Why did Pearl sell so many of the Export Series? Simply because it was a great product. For the price no other kit matched it. The good news is the Export Series is back sounding better than ever. Reintroduced 2013, the Pearl Export EXX and XLR series come standard with the Opti-Loc tom mounts, a P-930 drum pedal and 830 series hardware.
