Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass
We wrote about Dee Dee Ramone and the launch of his signature Precision Bass before this axe was released. Now that it has drop, it deserves more digital ink.
The Ramones were not a band lead by one creative individual or even a creative duo. They where a four member band, who didn’t particularly like each other, that created one of the freshest, rawest and most imitated sounds rock ‘n’ roll has ever known. Now true the original four didn’t stick together for the long run. The drummers came and went at a Spinal Rap rate, but it was the chemistry of the original four that created that sound.
Dee Dee was both singer, songwriter and bass player. But he couldn’t play bass and sing at the same time so he gave vocals up to original drummer Joey. On the bass Dee Dee was insanely courageous. A freight train of rhythm that slowed down for no drummer. To say he was an influence on the Pistols and the Clash, etc. may be a bit much since they where all developing at the same time. But Dee Dee and his Precision Bass did help define the sound.
The Dee Dee Ramone Precision Bass is inspired by Fenders of the mid to late 70s including a vintage heel truss-rod adjustment, ’70s Fender logo decal. There’s also an exclusive booklet, poster and, most kickass of all, a “Dee Dee Ramone One Two Three Four” neck plate.
Gabba, gabba, hell yeah.
